What is PTA?

PTA is a national organization made up of educators and parents working in the best interest of our students. The PTA hosts several fundraising events throughout the year in order to provide Norris Elementary with new guided reading books, grade level supplies, and more! Everyone is encouraged to join!

 

 

Why should I join PTA?

PTA members have a vote in how PTA funds are spent. Members receive quarterly emails with information on upcoming events. Each member receives local discounts and national discounts at places like Enterprise Car Rental, Sea World, Six Flags, Great Wolf Lodge, and more!

 

 

What is Curriculum Night?

Curriculum Night is an evening presentation by the teachers about the curriculum your child will have this year. It’s a great time to find out what your child will be learning and how his/her day is structured.

 

 

What are Spirit Nights?

Spirit Nights are fundraising events that will be scheduled throughout the year at local restaurants. These restaurants have agreed to share a portion of their profits with Norris. It is a great chance to meet other Norris families while supporting our school!

 

 

What is Norris Now?

Norris Now is a campus wide assembly held typically on a Friday afternoons about every two weeks throughout the school year. Announcements are made, birthdays and achievements are recognized, and performances are given. It’s like a pep rally and is enjoyed by all students and staff. Parents and family members are invited to attend.

 

 

What is the Norris PTA Fun Run?

The Fun Run is the fundraising event for Norris in early Fall where your child runs/walks laps during their Specials period during the school day to raise money for the school. Pledge forms will be sent home prior to the event. Parents and family members are welcome to attend. Volunteers will be needed to ensure the success of the event!

 

 

What is the Book Fair?

The Book Fair is a PTA event that hosts a Scholastic book fair to help families increase their personal libraries while raising money for Norris! The Norris PTA typically hosts three book fairs per year.

 

 

What are the Watch D.O.G.S. Dads?

Watch D.O.G.S. (Dads Of Great Students) is sponsored by the Norris Elementary PTA. This organization encourages fathers and father-figures to volunteer for a day in their student’s school. Fathers gain insight into their student’s education, help the school in volunteer tasks, and provide a positive male role model for the community.

 

 

How do I get to chaperone a Field Trip?

Field trips or study trips are scheduled for the Fall and Spring. Teachers will reach out a few weeks prior to the scheduled trip to ask for parent volunteers. Parents must complete the Frisco ISD background check in order to accompany students.

 

 

What are other ways to stay connected with the Norris PTA?

PTA communication is sent out via emails, the PTA website, Norris News, quarterly newsletters, and Facebook and Twitter postings.

 

What is the Reflections Student Art Program?

Students in Preschool through Grade 12 may create and submit works of art in six categories: Dance choreography, film production, literature, musical composition, photography, and visual arts. The Reflections Student Art Program has encouraged millions of students to express themselves by giving positive recognition for their artistic efforts.
